Hospital Visitors.....

It's always fun to get visitors in the hospital. Brian and I get so bored sitting there with nothing to do. Of course my family didn't come, but we still got plenty of visitors. Of course Grandma and Grandpa Humann came and brought Nathan's big brother over to meet him. Tanner was a bit weirded out by the whole thing. He didn't like the IV that was stuck in my arms and he did not want anything to do with Nathan.... but that changed before he left the hospital. Our friends the Smith's stopped by and brought us Panda for dinner. Much better than the hospital food! They stayed and ate dinner with us and of course all four of them (Brandon, Eileen, Cody, and Jakob) took turns holding him. Our next visitors were the Sapp family. And somehow we were lucky enough to be brought dessert. They brought us milkshakes from Sonic. Yummy! Our last visitors didn't come until the 8th. It was Adam and Sandy and their three boys. Sandy brought me beautiful sunflowers that I was able to take home that day a put in a vase. We are so grateful for everyone that came and kept us company for our short stay in the hospital.

The Birth Story

Every year my family goes camping in Pismo. It's one of my favorite traditions and I was sooo disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to go this year. My due date was July 5th and my family's reservations were July 6th-9th. I kept hoping that I would have Nathan before my family left, but he just didn't want to come. Which made my mom want to stay, but I told her to go... who knew when he was going to make his big debut. I had told Ellie that she could go and so she left for Pismo with my Sister on July 7th (They went a day later than everyone else). That morning I woke up at 8:00 having contractions that were about 10 minutes apart. I called my sister at about 9:00 and of course they were already headed towards the coast. She asked if I wanted her to turn around, but I told her no. I explained to Meghan that I really wanted him to come and that if she came back home my contractions would stop.... I didn't want to jinx myself. Sooooo....... they kept going. My contractions were not getting any closer and I didn't want them to stop so at about 10:00 I told Brian that I wanted to go for a walk. We decided to go to Riverpark because of how close it was to Kaiser. Well we were walking through REI when I decided I wanted to go to the hospital to get checked. We got there at about 11:00. I was admitted a little after 12:00 and had my little boy at 2:06! I swore that this labor was the most painful and wimped out and got an epidural.... Apparently I should have waited because I didn't feel the full effect of the epidural until I was holding Nathan in my hands. I couldn't believe how tiny he was, I had forgotten how small newborns are. Everyone wanted to know who he looked like. At the time I said he was definitely a Barnes.... Brown haired and big, but who knows.... we'll just have to wait and see.

He's Finally Here!

I am glad to welcome this little guy to family. He decided to wait until after his due date and all my family was camping in Pismo before making his entrance into this world. However, he was kind enough to make it quickly once he decided to come. We had an uneventful stay at the hospital and went home the next day. I am so glad to be home with this handsome new guy and can't wait for everyone to meet him!

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July was a lot of fun. We decided to go to Madera this year to see the big fireworks. The celebration started with a BBQ at Grandma and Papa Barnes' house. Then we headed over to the golf course to find a spot to sit and watch the fireworks. We even ran into our friends the Smith family and they decided to finish of the night with us. The firework show was awesome! Afterward we all headed back to the Grandparent's house to set off some of our own fireworks.

All the cute kids.....
Waiting for the darkness to approach....
Grandma and all her Grand kids.

While waiting for the show we got to see this guy jump from an airplane. It was a really cool to watch the American Flag float and turn in the air.
I'm not really sure what to say about these two....

Our friends.... Brandon and Eileen

Getting darker.....
GO Kaleigh! You are one strong girl!
Finally.....
Oh yes, Ellie hates the loud noises that fireworks make. We came prepared this year with earplugs for her. She was quite happy to wear them.
Watching the Fireworks...

Happy Birthday America!!!

Tanner's 3rd Birthday Party!

Tanner's Birthday Party turned out to be a BLAST! We had a water slide, a slip-n-slide, a trampoline, a pinata, and best of all........ We had CUPCAKES!

I love the concentration on Tanner's face.... let's hope he's not always so interested in fire.

Let the Eating Begin!!!!
Apparently when it's your Birthday you can have as many cupcakes as you want!

Smile!

Water Time!
The kids all had fun playing in the water! They played for a extremely long time.... I think they left the party ready for bed!

Pinata... Hand made by Diane and Kassie
Poor pinata.... Tanner is using your foot as a candy cup....

Tanner Turns Three!

It's crazy how fast they grow... it was only three years ago today that Tanner was born. He was 8lbs. 3oz. and now he is over 30lbs! He is my wild man and I love him so much! Tanner may look sweet, but don't let him fool you. He can be devious!
I asked Tanner how old he was and he sat there trying to put up three fingers. It took a little bit of concentration, but he got it.

I'm not sure what the look above is all about, but I think it's pretty funny. He loves to give me a hard time when I am taking pictures of him. I had to take tons of pictures to get some that didn't have him making funny faces.
